Tom Callahan
Tom has been involved in music his entire life, first as a touring musician and
for the past 20+ years as an executive on the business side of music.
Callahan has held executive positions with 3 labels from 1986-1992 including Enigma Records, I.R.S. Records and V.P. of Adult Format radio at Virgin Records.
Since 1992, Tom has started companies that have helped launch such artists as Shania Twain, LeAnn Rimes, Bonnie Raitt, Sixpence None the Richer, Goo Goo Dolls, Michael W. Smith, Dave Koz, and countless others . Throughout his career Tom has founded or co-founded, Tom Callahan & Associates,
Laurel Canyon Entertainment, Coyote Records, Boulder Entertainment Group and Vellum Entertainment. Tom has also been involved with music charities, such as helping to raise money for T.J. Martell and Rotary International. From 1994-1998 Tom also sat on the Board Of Directors of nationally syndicated live radio show ?E-Town? from Boulder Colorado.
In 1997, Callahan negotiated the first ever independent promotion radio group deal, representing Citadel Communications. In 1998 and 1999 he was nominated for "Promotion Person of the Year" by Gavin Magazine.
Tom Callahan continues to operate his highly sought after music consulting company in addition to being the U.S. label managing partner for PAMA RECORDS/Universal in Sweden. He is the ?go to guy? for international licensing opportunities and is a regular guest lecturer at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.
Tom?s newest venture ?Indie Advance? is sure to provide the much needed marketing, consultation and artist development for up and coming bands looking to become more competitive in the ever changing business of music.
Ryan Farrell
Ryan Farrell has been a professional musician for 12 years and is currently a member of the international punk group "Guttermouth." He also has ample experience behind the scenes working live production for artists as varied as Velvet Revolver, Wyclef Jean, and 50 Cent. Ryan has a reputation in the music community as a devoted performer and valued team member. Additionally, Ryan tours throughout the world and has performed in the United States, Australia, Europe, South America, and Canada. From this travel experience, Ryan cultivated an appreciation for the global music community and recognizes the very real possibility for indie bands to perform in worldwide venues.
When not touring the globe, Ryan completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from California State University Long Beach. In the fall of 2010, he will commence courses for a master's degree in international relations.
Devin Buttner
Devin Buttner began his career in the music industry back in 1996, learning how to play drums from his mother and father, and his passion for the music industry has been extremely strong ever since. Hailing from Chicago, Devin has functioned as a producer, song-writer, recording engineer, live sound engineer, and tour manager. He and is currently the drummer for singer/songwriter Kaile Goh. Along with being on the creative side of the business, Devin has successfully executed integrated marketing campaigns for several tours and shows with artists such as Common, Fallout Boy and Panic at the Disco. He has also worked for such companies as US Cellular, Sam Goody, and Platform-1.
Devin completed a Bachelor Degree for Arts Entertainment and Media Management from Columbia College in Chicago. He also has a degree from Devry in electronic communications and finished the record production program at MIW, also in Chicago.
Ike Stranathan
As a Principal of the company Ike is an articulate leader who brings a unique vision to Indie Advance. A veteran of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, he contributes skills and experience in project management and quality assurance to Indie Advance. As an entrepreneur, Ike wears many hats and stays on the cutting edge of 21st century global business. He graduated from the University of Kansas with honors and with a degree in Environmental Policy. He also attended the University of Alicante in Spain.
Ike is the Founder and Executive Director of Netting Nations, a nonprofit organization that prevents transmission of malaria via the distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets. An avid traveler, Ike has visited 44 countries and has lived in Canada and Spain. He also speaks Spanish fluently. Ike enjoys engaging in international business from his new home in the Philippines.
Roger Cox
Roger is a New Zealand native and proud to be a ?Kiwi.? Since graduating from Canterbury University with a major in Accounting, he has worked and traveled the globe in the international trade industry. In 2000, Roger landed in Los Angeles and became president of an international freight forwarding company. He then founded a consulting firm that focuses on assisting companies experiencing transition in accounting procedures. Roger currently contributes financial experience and brings an enthusiasm for global enterprise to Indie Advance. For three years, he belonged to Vistage, an organization that coaches CEO's in leadership and decision making.
Roger is passionate about helping others in his local community and around the world. He served as an Area Governor for Toastmasters International during 2006, he graduated in 2009 from Leadership Manhattan Beach, a community outreach and leadership program. Roger is also an active Rotarian and currently President Elect of one of the largest Rotary clubs in Los Angeles.
Gilbert Ballow
Gilbert is an energetic and optimistic individual who thrives upon creating new and lasting personal and professional relationships. In 2001, Gilbert co-founded and became manager of Venture Realty Group. Gilbert contributes ten years of marketing experience as a commercial real estate specialist with this organization to Indie Advance. Prior to working in the real estate industry, Mr. Ballow was a top sales representative for a number of firms, including Traffic Market Place (Acquired, Vivendi 2000) and Freeshop.com (IPO, NASDAQ 1999).
Gilbert has enjoyed numerous adventures, safaris and treks on 6 continents and has developed many lifelong friendships from these experiences. Gilbert earned a Division 1 diving scholarship at University. Coaching is in Gilbert?s blood, and he is passionate about taking his high school athletes to the University level and beyond.
Brian Perley, Esq.
Brian brings a unique, entrepreneurial spirit to the practice of law. In addition to being General Counsel to Indie Advance, Brian has conducted a private practice in intellectual property and entertainment law since 2004. Brian graduated magna cum laude with a BA degree from the University of Southern California and has a Juris Doctorate from UC Davis and a Masters of Laws, specializing in intellectual property law, from George Washington University.
A seasoned globetrotter, Brian has traveled to over 60 countries on six continents. He has lived in England, France, and the Philippines and speaks Spanish and French. In his spare time, he composes music and plays the piano professionally.
